Hey guys, same old story, upgrade time and I'm definitely not up to speed with what's the best option for what I need but I know I'll get the right advice here.

I can't be bothered to build a new system, last one I built was back in the day, my P4 3.2 many years ago and things have changed so much.

Current system is a Dell Q8200 2.33 with 4gig DDR and HD4670 1gig which has been a reliable workhorse up to now but I'm tired running a few games at low levels, I wanna see some sparkle in my games again :)

I'm not into a lot of the latest games to be honest although wouldn't mind having a bash at the latest Arma but games I mess around with now are Starcraft 2 & World of Tanks and I'd like to see them in their full glory without frame rate grinding to a halt.

I know WOT doesn't support multi-core cpu's yet so I suppose I'll need a multi-core CPU that can still deliver on a single core.

Budget is in the £600 - £750 range.

Currently using a 1920*1080 monitor.

All my pc's have been Intel powered (from my 1st 233mhz MMx onwards) never owned an AMD cpu but don't mind a change, whatever's gonna give me the best results for my gaming needs and budget.

Thanks chaps :)

Thanks Tamzzy, I am thinking about it, I wasn't worried about the building of it, more the selection of components and I don't make some schoolboy selection error, hence my question about the real world differences, if any, between the two CPUs.
