gaming system - spec help

hi guys
i'm building a gaming pc already got

Corsair 800d
asus maximus iv extreme b3 revision
corsair h70
corsair force 120 ssd
i need everything else apart from monitor ,keyboard and mouse.

should i go i7 2600k or i5 2500k
gpu should be ATI and psu should be good enough for crossfire.
i want to play the latest games and have them run smoothly sick of ps3 and 360 .
sorry if this is a lot to ask but i am a total noob at building pcs got about a 1000 to spend more if needed

For a pure gaming box go I5 2500K, without a doubt.

Thats a lot to drop on a motherboard! Maybe look at one of the mid range gen 3 Z68 boards.

Also, why not get a smaller SSD and put the money towards something else?

<edit>I would also go for a crucial or intel SSD.

tbh, CF/SLI create so many issues.

a single HD6970 will easily cope with any game for the forseeable future without the hassle.

A GTX580 would be even better.
