I'll be using it to play games, stream on Twitch and possibly some video editing. I've noticed that my current system which is about 6 years old is starting to struggle with playing some games and streaming at the same time.

Plus with CPUs coming out with more cores becoming more common I wouldn't be surprised it games start making use of more cores in the future and this CPU should handle everything for at least another 5 years (maybe with a GPU upgrade in the middle at some point).

Thanks for the build. I hadn't considered a Threadripper system but that system is really low on hard drive space. I looked at the configuration page for that system and you can only add a single HDD and no blu-ray drive (which I still need). I'd really like 2x 4TB WD Black HDDs if at all possible.

Actually thinking about it your system could work if I up the size of the SSD. Thank you. I'll have to think about this for a little bit as I really hadn't considered AMD before.

If it helps the Ryzen platform is great with plenty of room to upgrade the cpu in the future

Google gamersnexus 7700k Vs 1700 stream test- article and YouTube about Ryzen spanking it with a 1080, the quality available to higher quality streaming is easy to see

You would be better of spending £2K on a pc and then upgrading it when needed. Buying a 10 core cpu from the off is a bit OTT. Unless you are doing heavy cpu stuff then an 8 core is more than enough. In fact the 6 core i7 8700K seems to handle streaming as well as the 8 core R7 1700.

nice, good to see they have been quick to update - 7700k really did look bad against the 1700

Ah, that sounds cool. I notice OCUK are selling an 8700K system overclocked to 4.9Ghz which would probably destroy my current system in terms of performance and it does look a lot cheaper. I'll see if I can find some reviews on the 8700K.
