Hey Guys,

I'm Ryan, I'm new to computer builds. I've never build a system from scratch before, I've only ever upgraded parts (GPU, PSU, HDD, RAM & case swaps). I'm pretty sure I'll be fine building one from scratch.
Unfortunately, I'm not very good at knowing what's the best components to buy for my needs/budget.

I currently upload game play footage of Minecraft to Youtube, mainly as a hobby and just to get away from the stress of work etc. And I want to branch out to better games so need a new system.

My needs are -
Decent lag-free game play while recording with FRAPS & Audacity.
Capable of Rendering HD videos in Sony Vegas (my current build takes over 2 hours to render a wmv 720p 15 min clip)

So the budget is around £900, I will need an OS (not sure what's best out of Windows 7 or 8) but I don't need any of the peripherals (Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, Speakers)

Thanks Guys!

Have no idea how to import basket on IE, chrome and firefox crash in this college lol.

Learning all this so yeah, from what I have read.

Gigabyte Z77X UP4 mobo (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-405-GI)
Curcial Ballisitx sport 2x 8gb DDR3 1600mhz (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-173-CR) not 100% on this at all, I see a lot of people going for the 2x 4gb but mostly samsung because they are on offer. But guess 16GB is better for video editing/rendering.

Intel i5 3570k LGA1155 3.4ghz (I guess i7 would be better for video editing but not sure which one, I own the 3570 and use it for gaming)

Seasonic G series 550w '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply < still learning my PSU's (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-018-SS)

Guessing you would need a fairly big HDD for storage and a nice SSD to store the temp data so you can write faster when rendering, not sure on these myself. One I picked out was:

Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-255-SE)

And GPU would be:

Gigabyte ATI 7850 Windforce 2GB GDDR5. (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-100-GI)

I am looking for help as much as you so guess once people correct/advise on my post you will get what you are looking for :D

what basket? lol

I deleted the links from the quote as it would just clutter the thread..
thats why i left the username so people could see who i was replying to.

I'd personally avoid a B grade graphics card and get a better motherboard. I'm not that into Windows 8 myself, but I guess it's subjective

I've not had any experience of Windows 8 so I don't know either.
Any suggestion on the MB and Graphics?

My budget is slightly negotiable by around £100 eitherway.. but thats just dependant on whether the £100 extra would be worth it!

Any reason you would avoid B-Grade? They are specced quite often to fit a system into the budget. Likely it's just a returned item and might be missing the CD for drivers which can be downloaded online anyway.

This would be a 'better' motherboard

I believe B grade does not come with full warranty and might be missing some accessory's.

B-Grade items are manufacturer's repairs or items we are unable to sell as new, they may be subject to packaging damage or may be a brown box product. All B-Grade items come with a 90 day warranty and may be missing items such as driver CD's and cables. Unfortunately we are unable to provide you with the reason why this is B-Grade as each B-Grade item is different.

So I'm thinking this would be good for me?
hopefully people agree? but any input is appreciated!
I might even remove the optical drive and use one from my old system.

What's peoples thoughts on Win8/Win7.. I know for Win7 Premium ram is limited to 16gb so Win8 would be better if I planned on increasing that.. or possibly strech to Win7 Pro..

will a Corsair TX 650W PSU - 80plus Bronze Certified power all this fine?

Your system with the memory below instead. Adds a bit more headroom at 1866MHz C10. Reuse the older DVDRW.

The TX650 will be more than enough.
I use win7 ultimate so have not upgraded to win8, cannot comment. I tried it briefly on a netbook though and reverted to win7 through preference.
