Gaming while using instant messenging

Hi there, currently I use a logitech g15 with Miranda to be able to talk through the keyboard lcd without having to alt tab to reply to messages on msn etc while playing games.

I would like to take this a step further, is a good option to get a small display or a tablet sized display and run dual display mode with my game on one and my chat clients on the other? I have an iPod touch (2g) but I don't think there are any apps that will let you use your PC to chat while it displays on the iPod.

I also would rather not overly nerf my games performance, I am running a 22" on an 512mb 8800gt with a q6600 @~3.4ghz (Vista 64).

I am very open to suggestions and would appreciate anyone's ideas. Oh and Merry Christmas!

Any ideas? I remember once seeing a small monitor that can clip to the side of another one but I'm not sure if it was for stuff like this...

I tried this with two monitors, and found that with the game on one screen and chat on the other, still needed to alt+tab because the fullscreened game meant I couldn't move the mouse cursor outside of the game window.

Yeah I had that problem too. Your best bet is to leave it as it is.
