Before anyone starts -Yes, I have been to the doctors for medical advice and he more or less said they are given low priority by hand surgeons. I dont want medical advice

For people that dont know what im on about its a lump (usually on your wrist/ankle) that is a build up of fluid. In the olden times they were called 'bible cysts' because they would smash them with a bible to get rid of it!

I went to the doctors because it was hurting and he told me about them being removed/drained at hand surgeons but are given very low priority because a lot of people have them and they often come back anyway.

Anyway, if you have one you can press the fluid back in to stop it hurting more, which he did and I now do. Has anyone tried smashing theirs? I tried with a frying pan but it didnt work too well! ha ha

I had one right on the join of my finger was really painful, went and saaw a nurse and she poked it and squeezed it which hurt like hell and then after that it had gone. So yeh try whacking it or squeezing it, failing that find a friendly heroin addict, borrow a needle and suck out the goo.

I would say use something like a hard rubber mallet, something with some give so it doesnt damage the bone :)

Well, at the doctors they will drain it. I will say no more as it could be considered medical advise, but, as you say they drain it.

I doubt it will be a good idea to hit your wrist, you could break it. Also, as you said, the cyst can, and a lot of the time does, come back after being drained. Why risk injuring your wrist just because of a cyst that can be drained (although you will have to wait for the draining to occur)?

like CBS said, pierce it.

have an extremely hot bath, get some antiseptic etc, just dig into it with the tool of your choice.
