Hi all, as the title says I have a gap between the stairs and wall which is about 6mm. I know I can use quadrant bead to block this gap on the straight section but the top of the stairs is curved ( see photos).
What would be the best way to block this off on the curved section, 6mm seems too much to fill with caulk.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers guys, I'll look up deckies caulk then, it will be ok for that sort of gap will it ?

Agreed on caulk. B&q do a tube for £2 somthing I've filled in much bigger gaps with it.

You can get a nice finish just running a wet finger down the gap.

Don't use silicone as it won't over paint. Might have to deco it a few times for it to stop cracking. Personally I'd like a quadrant on it as it will continue cracking in time, you could put a thin one on and glue/pin then deco fiill. That would certainly minimise cracking.

I thought quadrant but I'd need a flexible one for the top of that staircase - do they do such a thing

A 10-12mm will bend to that profile easy without snapping. You may even get away with a thinner one as long as it covers the gap. Get some mitre adhesive ( http://m.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-mitre-adhesive-200ml/41795 ) and some pins, it's a 2 part glue so apply glue on the quadrant and spray the other part with the activator spray, the mitre adhesive cures instantly so the bond won't break with the flex of the quadrant. Fill with deco once the quadrant is on. Much less chance of cracking.

If you don't want to go to the hassle, try deco filling it. As I say you may need to do it a few times but could always try before going down the quadrant route.

I'd say you'll be OK with just bending a qaudrant bead. If it does start to crack then just steam it over a kettle spout to make it more pliable.

Anyone got a link to a "quadrant"? I've never heard of one and am wondering if it would have been a better solution for my rental. Ill probably have to redo a similar one soon.

Arrgh I missed you referring to it as a "quadrant bead" :( guess I deserved that :D

"Stair quadrant" and "quadrant" didn't turn up anything useful lol.

Sorry.
