Ok so woke up this morning and checked outside to see if it was raining, as I had to swap my aftermarket alloys on my car for the stock ones which where in the garage, as I'm selling the car soon. Great I thought, its not raining, then my day turned bad - looked across at my garage that is in a block opposite my flat and see the door slightly open - **** :(
Run down to check, open the door and to my suprise the alloys are all there, but then realised loads of other stuff wasn't!! My ramps, jack, all my tools, car stereo, petrol go-kart and minimoto are all gone
To make things worse - no forced entry - must not locked it when I put the old alloys in two nights ago!! Sooooo ****** off with myself :(
So phone police who said they will come round tomorrow as they couldn't get round before I had to leave for work. Shortly after this I notice two youths on bikes cycle up the path that runs past my garage stop outside my garage, look at the door, then turn round and cycle away.
To me that was just to suspitious(sp?) for my likings and seen that they went back to the estate round from mine. So I decided to have a little walk round to see if I could spot them and then noticed 4 of them in a garage in the other estate. They noticed me, had a good look, talked between themselves and then shut their garage up and took off.
Now by this time I had to leave for work so didn't have time to do anything, but I'm now thinking about popping round to the garage tonight when I finish and have a look. If I spot my stuff I'll call the police, if not then back to square one.
Now is this something anyone else would do or should I just call the police first?? Don't want to waste their time on a hunch that my stuff might be there, but know its probably the better thing to do rather than just head round myself.
Anyone offer some advice on what I should do?? Heads mashed up and don't want to do anything too rash.

I say next time they are about let them see you put in a plasma tv or something expensive thats broken?? then head down when its dark and hide inside. :D Take a laptop n headphones n surprise them while wearing a black ninja outfit. :D

TBH the police will do nothing. They can't search the garage without a warrant and for that they need good cause. I doubt your suspicions will be good enough for them tbh.

Which is why I'm thinking about going myself. If my stuffs there I could phone them and explain the situation.

Don't want to leave it in the hands of the police as nothing will come of it without a warrent, which takes time and enough reason, by which time if anything is in there it will probably be gone, but then don't want to get busted going into someone else's garage looking for my stuff

If you do go there, take a small torch, let someone know where you are, and take at least one other person with you. Go as late as reasonably possible. Don't leave it long before you go, because the stuff will be moved on quickly if it is there.

Try to look under the door/through any holes with the torch, and hopefully you'll see something conclusive. Take something so you can jimmy it open slightly, but don't get caught with anything that resembles a potential weapon. You never know, they just might leave it unlocked ;)

Just keep an eye on the garage, record it if you can. That's a lot of gear to go missing without taking some sort of action, especially when your insurance won't cover it.

I'd tell the police of your suspiscions but they probably won't do much. If they can't even respond to a bloody robbery in a reasonable time, they certaintly won't waste their time chasing a member of the publics suspiscions.

Sometimes I wonder why I pay taxes....
