Ok those two don't go together.

If I want to put a raised bed in 1m x1m by 15cm call it 17cm by the time I've stripped the grass back. How much soil do I need to fill it and cheapest way to do this. You can get big bags at B&Q for very cheap but it's pretty poor, mix that with other stuff. Bulk but top soild.
Obviously looking on Gumtree for top soil and going to get it for free is cheapest, but assuming I can't find that in the next week or two?

And how do I secure my garage door, landlords won't do anything. Ideally the entire garage as well other other parts of the house need tearing down and replacing. But hey ho, it's cheap.

Needs to unlock on the outside, and only protect against opatunistics.

Also look or advertise on Freecycle, always soil available on my local one.

With regards to garage lock, fit a pair of heavys bolt on each side on bottom of door, with a steel reinforcing plate on the inside of the door, that drop into the concrete.

You can get long throw bolts (Brenton Bolts) which drops 3"- 4" into the concrete, or you could use a Lockable Surface Bolt, expensive, but it drop about 6" in to the concrete.

1mtr x 1mtr x 17cm isn't going to take a huge ammount. I'd probably just buy 5-6 handy sized bags.
Most places do multibuy offers.
Getting a tonne bag from a builders merchants or garden centre would be overkill, although will probably cost you similar.

I'd be very wary of anyone giving away free top soil. If it's genuine top soil I doubt it would be free. Most likely sub soil or stuff that's full of random nastiness.

some people put bolts on the outside of the garage door that bolt directly into a concrete floor obviously with chunky padlocks to stop someone just pulling the bolts out

You really need one on each side and one in the middle for it to be properly secure.

I know from experience you can easily bend a garage door up enough on either side for someone to be able to crawl in. , I've even saw garage doors bent in half before and it only takes 2-3 people
