The house I'm renovating has a 2.5m x 5.5m garage which I would like to make as functional as possible. I'm ideally looking for good quality racking that I can use for storage, but then also somehow incorporate some workspace to do maintenance on, i.e soldering, crafts etc.

Last thing I need is a good way to store four bikes four in total so they're accessible but also using as little space as possible.

I'm sure a few of you will have done a kit out previously, so just looking for advice and ideas

Thanks

Bikes are annoying to store..they just have that awkward handlebar/front wheel issue.

I removed my front wheel so I could swivel the handlebars 90 degrees flat against the wall.

Found a photo of my garage that covers shelf racking, old kitchen reuse, and (just about) bike storage.

The shelves were from Screwfix, about £70 per unit I believe and we got three. Very happy with them.

For the bikes you probably can't make it out, but I just got some basic bike wall mounts from Amazon, black metal bar style. They're cheap and functional but it takes a bit of manoeuvring to get two on one mount.

For shelving, i've got 1 kit of cheapo 3x cheapo metal and MDF racking off ebay, 1x plastic racking some somewhere and then one fully metal one from B&Q, tbf they've all been really good but the plastic one is probably the most rugged feeling and also the cheapest.

I used one of the ebay ones in half for a work place for my computer, it's fine for that but i wouldn't want to use it as a serios work bench, it'd be ok for crafting but no good if you want to strip a gearbox. I made a proper work bench out of an solid ash table.

Not sure what the forum has done here, it appears to have scraped my image and re-hosted it; but here is the link:
