Garden Fence Treatment - Spray or Brush?

So... its come around again... the bloody awful job of treating the garden fencing and decking.

The decking I don't mind so much but the fence painting has taken me days in the past and is a sod of a job  I have the equivalent of 20 panels to paint, this coming weekend if the weather warms and doesn't rain.

I am sorely tempted to get one of the spraying kits rather than the old fashion brush route. The adverts make it look incredibly easy however the online reviews appear to be mixed of these products.

Has anyone here any experience and views on spraying the fence stain rather than painting it? Is spraying more messy and laborious due to the sprayers being crap and clogging all the time?

Cheers!

so its a mixed bunch of opinions here as well then! :-D

We've got rain forecast all weekend so it's at least another week of deliberating.

My feel is that I'll at least try the spray, and if it is a disaster then I can always get the brush out. £15 on a spray device isn't so bad.
