Garden gate

Im going to get a few quotes to replace a section of my fence and also the gate but was wondering if garden gates are always built from scratch by the fence people or whether they are simply bought in?

Ive found a few places on line that supply gates but any pointers or recommendations appreciated.

My skills may stretch to renewing the fence but I dont think I would be able to build the gate too!

Had mine replaced a couple of years ago and the guy just made it on-site. Seemed to be a very quick job when armed with the right tools (mostly the nail gun !)

More often than not I would imagine bespoke gates for non standard openings will be built from scratch. Otherwise they will be off the shelf.
Fencing contractors aren't typically master craftsman, so if you are looking for something specific I would approach a carpenter or someone that fabricates gates for a living.

I made my own. Got the timber yard to cut to size and all I needed to do was arrange it and screw it together.

Depends on the style of gate, picket gate made by fence company, mortice and tenon gate probably bought in

Had a tall gate and part of fence (only around 1ft of fencing) built cost me £180

Get a proper gate company to make one out of Redwood (and supply the redwood posts).
The small finishing details will make it look a lot better than one knocked up out of pallet wood on site.
