Hello All,

A mate of mine is looking for a TV for his "outside bar", I say outside but it will be sheltered and out of direct sunlight. His budget is ~£750 (willing to go a little higher if it's absolutely worth it, and he's looking for at least 65" (bigger if possible). He's been recommended the:

SAMSUNG QE65Q60BAUXXU 65"

Anything better in the price bracket, primary use is for the upcomig world cup so guess refresh rate and brightness are the biggest factors?

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers,

In winter? He needs an outdoor heater first :D

Only thing you need to be careful of is any element that could possibly get into the TV like bugs etc and make sure it is completely rain proof. Obviously Samsung offer a outdoor TV called the terrace, but it doesn't come cheap, so if going normal, make sure it's fully enclosed properly and get a decent cover for it.

TV wise also have a look at Sony XR-65X90J

Dont get one with a glossy screen they are not good in bright sunlight/outside light. Make sure you have a good cover for it too. IPS screens are better than VA too for when its brighter/lighter.
Good luck, I struggled with getting one for my Conservatory. I went with a Samsung 32" at first it was IPS excellent picture in bright circumstances matt screen, backlight bleed was shocking so returned it and went for the 42" version without doing my homework not knowing it was VA and Semi-Glossy. Backlight started to fail after 3 months so got it reported under warranty, engineer came out fitted a new screen with better (less) BLB and I just kept it couldnt be bothered to look for another.

I suppose it wont matter too much about light as some matches maybe at night ? Not sure of the time difference with Qatar.
