what is it, exactly? Is it just a posable environment, or is it like a map editor? What can you do other than create screenshots of the gman in a compromising postition?

It used to be free so maybe you can find an old version and try it out. There was also another mod which IIRC came out before Garry's did but the guy stopped developing it, called Jay mod or something, I forget.

You can attach propulsion units to things. At one point I remember making a radio-controlled boat which was quite fun. I haven't played it for a long time so it's probably changed and expanded a lot since then.

You can run around and build stuff, make strange contraptions, mess about really... It's just a sandbox, you can do what you want.

the brilliance of it is wire mod imo.. if youve dont electronics.. you can do quite a lot.

the mod enables you to wire up a simpleish circuit. iv make score boards, suicide planes, traps that hyper drives.. and its gd fun.

There are two things I basically enjoy doing in Garry's Mod:

First thing: Aligning people and scenery into a "funny" situation or similar and then take some pictures of it. Using TF2 characters can make it pretty hilarious

Second: Just walk around and make contraptions of all kind of sorts. Constructing airplanes, cars, catapults etc. The only limit is you imagination really


The game is well worth the 10 $ they ask for it.

This thread perfectly displays what makes gmods open ended gameplay brilliant, some people love to create amazing technical marvels that only exist because they can, and some people just like to drop stuff on people.

No one can really tell you what you do because it's pretty much everything and anything.

I can't get enough of this for some reason, something really quite satisfying about it. Decent shots though, not the usual garbage that floats around facepunch

This is a great mod. I used to play it a lot, but must have been over a year or more since i played. Im sure a lot has changed. I would really like to see the new version. Just need to re-install HL2, steam etc.
