What exactly is this game? is it an actual game? or do you have to make things before you can play? i see it has overwhelming reviews on steam so it has me sort of interested, only thing is i cant be bothered to make my own game etc and just like playing a game thats already made lol

so what exactly is this and is it any good?

Wow, late to the game :)

Sounds like it isn't for you then, if you like your games pre-made and ready to go. It's more of a sandbox for dicking about in, I believe. Check YouTube if still curious.
 
ahhh if it is like that then i will give it a miss lol i thought it was a little like little big planet where you have 1000s of other peoples games to play or something if you know what i mean? lol im not very good at explaining things :)
 
interesting, is there actually a game there? can you play other peoples creations online with strangers? i still dont really know what it exactly is lol i guess i should do some youtube resurch :)
 
It's a sandbox construction game at heart.

You can play online yes. Haven't launched it in quite a while but if you own other Source games you get the assetts to use for your creation, you can download other peoples creations too: https://garrysmods.org/
 
Yes you can just play games without creating one yourself. Online prop hunt is usually hilarious.
 
Garry Mod is games within a game.

My favourite games/servers are the "Cinemas" where you can go watch movies/tv/youtube with other players in a player built Cinema, sometimes it can be porn, sometimes it can be a full movie, some servers have "movie" nights where lots of players get together to watch one together in the game.

There is a "hide and seek" game called Prop Hunt Players are grouped into hunters and hiders? I think, the players who have to hide can clone themselves into anything in the map, like a chair, a banana, vending machine, a car, a table, anything and they hide among everything else.

Hunters have to find them and kill them.

Just two examples, but there is tons of other wacky games in it.
 
thanks for replies, mmmm not sure about it still lol I guess I will give it a miss for now and maybe watch a bunch of vids to see more of what its like, dosnt sound anything like I was expecting though lol

It must cost like 50p by now, i cant even remember buying it tbh.
its a great game just as portal 1 or 2 is a great game, they must be super cheap by now :)
 
Yeah its good fun, prop hunt and death run are hilariously good, but usually a lot better if you've got some friends to play with.

There's a ton of different games within the game so there's often a lot of stuff you can do in it, or you could just mess around making stuff if you wanted.
 
I must've spent close to 300 hours on Garry's Mod! I primarily use it for creating zombie survival scenarios, nuclear bomb tests, and tornado outbreak scenarios.
