hi guys

every morning i get to work and get very strong smell of gas carbon monoxide, in the last few months, they had problem with the gas boiler, the manager asked the director to sort it out but he seems to ignored it.

one of the colleague took a long term sick leave due serious lack of sleeping. i thought it mite be linked to the carbon monoxide

is there any cheapo gas carbon monoxide i could get and test the level of gas.

cheers

PS. is it illegal for the director to ignore it?

I think you mean you can smell just regualar gas, as stated, monoxide is odourless which is why it fills the house and can kill as no one knows.

didnt realise we couldnt smell carbon monoxide, my mistake, so what is it? just gas?

Yup just plain old exploding gas.

You can get CO meters from almost anywhere now, even large supermarkets sell them these days.

Plain old gas doesn't have an odour either. The addititives put into it to make it smell do have an odour though :D

Quoted for the Truth. Same as Propane, Butane and Dissolved Acetylene as well. Although the additive is different for Propane/Butane, it's supposed to smell like fish, DA is supposed to have a Garlic additive

I think you mean "detectors" not "meters"; meters are quite expensive, detectors, less so.

To the OP; if it's gas, (or even if not ;) ) ring the gas board, or whoever (transco) and say you can smell a leak ..... let them check it out.

I'd suggest lighting a match in various places around the building. If there's an explosion, then there's probably a leak and you should call someone out to have a look at it. If there's not an explosion, then find the source of the smell and tell them to wash more frequently.
