Is this the same as LPG? If so.. I didn't know you could convert diesels?
You can, there are 2 systems, mixed and pure, mixed diesel/gas has issues of minimal savings and the pure lpg requires a spark ignition system fitting in place of the glow plugs and modified pistons.
You can also have CNG compressed natural gas which Northampton runs its busses on (I used to fill my Mondeo CNG at the bus station in Northampton).
CNG can also allow a home filling station, but I think it also requires a spark ignition system on a diesel.
That is the extent of my knowledge, but my CNG Mondeo was cheaper to run than on LPG.
(LPG works like a fume carb/single injector, CNG is metred individual injectors)
what about fill up locations, do you know how many there are around the country (apart from northampton)?

Surely no one actually converts a diesel engine back to spark ignition just to run it on LPG? This would be a huge amount of work which is most unlikely to be economically viable. In fact it would probably be easier to replace the diesel with a petrol engine if you were that desperate to use LPG.
You realise CNG saves approximately 40% in running costs compared to petrol/diesel right? (sorry you said lpg, but cng still requires conversion)
