gate entry system, new fobs?

Hi

I have lost my keys. On that key set was a fob that opened the gate into our buildings car park. I have borrowed a fob off the office for now.

Can i clone this fob? Or do i need to pay the £60 the management company want for a replacement? The fob is Telcoma Tango Slim 2. They retail for around £28 + vat.

Any help?

Also, to gain entry into the building I have another fob. I assume it's an RF ID tag as there are no buttons on it, just hold it near the receiver and it unlocks. They want £50 for a new one :eek: The entry system is by Fermax, can i clone the one i have?

Not much point in you obtaining your own fob and attempting to copy the spare one if they all have a unique ID that they keep a record of and cross reference with your flat number.

You may well be physically able to do it yourself, but if they can tell your using a cloned fob and fine you, you'll just have to pay them.
 
the office said they have to order them from the management company, commented on how expensive they are and asked if i find a way of getting them cheaper to let them know!
 
Like most receivers for electric gates and doors, remotes, access cards and RFID tags all need either some kind of master remote/card/tag or access to the board.

Programming them is usually trivial, you could perhaps save yourself £30 if you can convince the management to let you program your own (although I doubt they would!), but is it worth the hassle?
 
If the 'office' still have to program them once the Management company has sent them the fob and the 'office' have agreed that they will program them it for you if you source it elsewhere then a fob is a fob, isn't it?

Not the same thing but for my garage it has an electric shutter and all you do is press a button on the main receiver and press a button on the fob to pair them up. I'm sure it's not as simple as that but the principle would be the same wouldn't it?
 
the office is just a sales office for the rest of the building, they're not going to program them. all they can do is order another one for me, which the managment company will send out programmed or program it themselves.
