Anyone have the Gateway Fpd2485W?

I've just ordered this and will be collecting it on Monday.

I needed a monitor with component and s-video. Dell and Benq look great but are pricey and the cheaper samsung/iiyama don't have the connections.

This gateway seems to have eveything I need - it also uses an S-PVA 1920*1200 panel. It lacks the HDMI of the BenQ and the media reader of the Dell but has an additional component in instead. It still has 1:1 pixel mapping, USB hub, is HDCP enabled and has pivot functionality.

The killer is the price. I picked it up for £294.99 Inc VAT and delivery to my local store. As well as Triple points with that supermarkets reward scheme and £13 Quidco making it just £275.

Upon scouring through reviews some people are complaining about ghosting but plenty don't notice it. The picture quality isn't supposed to be quite as good as the Dell. But i'm willing to take a chance at that price... At least its from a place where it will be easy to return.

Anyone else ordered one?

It is certainly good value however when you see this:

Limited Warranty 1 year parts/labor
3 year parts/labor extended warranty available
Pixel Defect Policy 10 or more total stuck pixels
3 or more clustered (one inch circle)

it did kind of left me a bit ah well. But depends how much the extended warranty is i guess if it's say £10-£20 then this is a true bargain imo. When you look at what dell offers for the 2407wfp 4 years next day warranty and that can be had for around £85 more it may be worth the extra for the dell.
Still a cracking price for such a screen though huh.

Yeah - the warranty deal does suck a bit - but at £100 less than the Dell - I'm not complaining.

Extended warranty is £36 to upgrade it to 3 years.

Was tempted by the Dell - but this seems like a good deal. Will let people know when the screen arrives.

In all Honesty I wish I'd ordered the Benq when it was £399 on Overclockers!

It's here and it's Big.

Initial impressions

Tiny bit of Backlight bleed to the left corner (only if you hunt for it)
Silly menu noises (turned off now)
No dead pixels.
Way too Bright out of the box.

Fairly smart looking - but not as nice as the Dell. (part Matt black, part piano black)

Easily adjustable. Excellent Viewing angles typical of an S-PVA screen.

All in all, i'm pleased with my purchase, even with the 1 yr warranty - for £295 it's a bargain as it has pretty much everything the Dell has bar the warranty!

Credit to the company, ordered it at 2pm on Saturday and arrived at my local store for collection 3pm Monday. Great Service.

Will get pics up later. Will also get my Wii plugged in and test out the 1:1 and PiP later.

Played Bioshock for a while, no sign of any ghosting as far as I could see. Don't really know what i'm looking for though.

Only negative is that I've come from a 2ms 20" TN Film and when looking for it - I thought I could sense a tiny bit of lag on CSS. However, as soon as I got immersed into the game, it wasn't noticeable.

Just been playing TF2 on it and as long as the AA is off - my 7800GTX handles it well. The game looks fantastic on this screen.

Other Observations:

A 24" in Portrait mode is so weird.
Touch sensitive buttons are great for just turning it on and off or changing source - but annoying for fiddling with the settings.

So overall a great purchase? hats off to gateway for releasing such a bargain yet high quality screen.

Damn, was just about to order that monitor and the place has gone out of stock! Looks damn tasty for that price ;) the only problem is that while I would be using it for by xb360, my computer must take some of it's magnificent 24 inch love too. I currently have a GTS 320mb in my comp, would i need to upgrade it?

Overall a great purchase yes.

In very fast FPS's like quake 3 - you can feel the ghosting - its only slight but its there when you look for it. This is only when I look for it on a server on my own - when I get into a game I rarely notice it. Not noticeable in the slightest on slow/medium pace FPS's like Bioshock or TF2.

Picture In picture works great and is highly adjustable - the wii looks great when in PiP - but not perfect when blown up as the screen is so high res and the wii isn't.

I can only compare this monitor to my old LG204WT and my mates 2007WFP - but i'd say its pretty good - It handles PiP and 1:1 mapping better than the 2407WFP does. From what I've read - the ghosting is similar to the older Dell's.

Ghosting is a strange thing, maybe i'm not that succeptible to it - but the videos on the net make it look a lot worse than it is - or maybe I got lucky and got a good screen. I just don't know. Either way this monitor is good for me :)

EDIT: Mojo: I'm running this monitor on my 7800GTX which is a lot slower than your 8800GTS 320mb. It runs CSS and TF2 just fine, the only game i've had to turn things down on is Bioshock and Test Drive Unlimited - All other games i've tried have run ok so far. I'm saving Bioshock for when I get a new card though :D

Hi mate, I got it here a few months ago - still a good price:

http://cpc.farnell.com/SB03444/computer-products/product.us0?sku=gateway-fpd2485w&_requestid=29004

I've been very happy with it, have been using it with my pc, and also my ps3 with a hdmi to dvi adaptor.

The features are comprehensive, and it's pretty well made.

My only criticism is the inverse ghosting you get sometimes (mainly you see a little trail behind the cursor when moving it across grey/brown backgrounds sometimes). However you don't really notice that in games - and not at all when watching blu-ray movies.

Reply if you've got any specific questions.

There has been a lot of discussion about this monitor on various forums, but for the price and connectivity I think it's pretty decent (brilliant in fact) - particularly if you've never had a monitor this size before.

Well, I'm certainly not a hard-core gamer by any means but I haven't noticed anything major really having played Wow, Unreal Tournament 3, Metal Gear Solid 4, Resistance, GTA4, Uncharted, and GT5:Prolog on it.

And if you're referring to input lag then nothing noticeable.
