trying to find some gauges for my car.. all i can find are tacky looking 'fast and furious' or ones that light up pink, or green, or flash or..whatever.

all i want are some decent gauges that don't look like blackpool bloody illumintations

i'm after AFR, oil pressure, oil temperature, vacuum / boost and tbh, i'm not sure what to put in the other pod :s

I've got smoked Autometer gauges in my car.

Look good when not powered and have a smart design when lit up.

I've only wired up my volt gauge so far, but it's VERY accurate. I got them for around £15 from the bay of E.

Currently running an Innovate motorsports AFR, but it cost the wrong side of £160 then you need the Wideband to hook it upto which cost the wrong side of £140.

Great combo though and since its got a computer in the gauge it allows you to record a session and view high / low AFR's and the such.

Need to find a boost gauge next, but all the ones i like are £200 +

Is that the suburu dash, didn't realise how dated they look, the AC button looks just like an 80's honda

Ah, but 80s Hondas don't have the wonderful and very useful "Bright" button.

I have Autometer Ultralites. They match the OE dials very well (Impreza)

I will ALWAYS go with Stewart Warner. Nothing else comes up to par for me. Accuracy beyond compare, timeless looks, and subtle lighting.

Mind you, nothing in my driveway is newer than 1995, so old school gauges work best for me. You young kids and your new cars need something that wasn't designed in the 50's, unlike me..... ;)

I would avoid getting smoked ones. I got one (didn't want it to be smoked!) and I couldn't see the darn thing in sunlight.

I ended up opening it up and taking the bit of smoked glass out. Looks much better now.

Crummy mobile phone pic.

To answer the OP. Gauges - any not tacky. If they match the original equipment dials and are there for a valid reason, then they wont look tacky.

If they are just for show, then they will look stupid. Like an electric dump valve.
