Hiya lads

I have gone down the budget route of acquiring the above mobo [rev1] & ocz pc2-8000 platinum extreme

firslty can you tell me if I will have any problems with the ram considering it is 1000 mhz, I have done my research on this mobo and I have bought a c2d 6300 and awaiting delivery on that item [ complimented with an arctic freezer 7] - I hope to get around 450 fsb [ 3 ghz etc], wil lthis be possible

also i notice it has two chips for the sata2, do i go for the gigabyte chip or the intel chip when creating a raid set [striped]

appreciate the feedback

the psu i am using is the hiper modular sli 580 watt to eliminate any problems

I am quite sad as I am currently using an asus a7n8xe-deluxe with mobile barton xp2500 [OC 2.5 ghz] corsair pc3200 ddr 6.3.2.2.5 with hercules prophet 9700 pro - last of the old skool OC rigs imo

speak to you soon :)

Think this will be the beggining of your problems...

If you want to use raid you need to use the Gigabyte chip as the onboard Intel ICH8 doesn't support raid, only the ICH8R model does.

The RAM is plenty enough for 450FSB oc as it will be running at 900Mhz, which is still below the rated DDR2 1000.

I have had mine since last summer on my OC rig and havent had any problems

volt rails are stable and it seems to run pretty cool

got it form a competitor

it is worrying though pmsl

There are 2 threads regarding this PSU in the overclocking section, 1 for explosions and 1 for good uns!
And it looks like there are far more good uns than bad uns!!
I have one thats not skipped a beat so ignore him, it looks a sound set up!

EDIT - I notice he only picked the bad posts and not linked the good one!!

I got my hiper and I will defiantly run it until it goes boom. I refuse to worry and insist on being happy with my purchase!

However if you're building from new rather than already in the deep end I would suggest a different make...
