Hi guys,

We are currently looking for a new ticketing system which works well with the new GDP Regulation (Repair shop environment). Do you guys have any suggestions? We basically take customers name, phone number, passwords to logon, make any notes on equipment bought in and sometimes email then mark the job as done when we are finished with the time spent on the job.

We are aware clients need to sign each time a job comes in so we will be getting one of the biometric signature to pdf pens and Terms and Conditions will have to be offered each time. The customer also needs to have a copy of the form/job sheet.

I would have thought any business product or service that has the potential to store or process personal data would have something like 'GDPR compliant' written all over their website. Seems to be the in thing for selling stuff at the moment. Come May 25th it will be like any other day until the first company gets fined by the ICO :D
 
We supply anti-fraud systems to banks and the government and we've had to make changes to accommodate GDPR for our clients so I am sure any decent software dev will have done the same.

As above, speak to your contact with them and go over it all.

I certainly wouldn't be changing systems because of this unless you're unhappy with the system or they've done nothing towards it but it seems they have.
 
The issue here might be the store doesn't have any contract or a contract worth anything in place. My area historically is the Epos sector and you would be surprised how many end users do not have any formal contracts. Its not always just small indie's either, I've dealt with major providers who don't issue contracts.

I'm sure things are getting better with the pressures from things like Cyber essentials, PCI and GDPR as the end users quite rightly are asking the questions.
 
Just about every manager/teamleader or otherwise not normal worker in our Uni is running about like headless chickens about GDPR, lots trying to dump it all on the IT dept which is telling folk to go do one and sort it out themselves. Things like directory rights management and stuff, everyone is all of a sudden worried about security when we have been banging on about it for decades.
I am hearing its much the same at other institutions as well, must be a laugh.
