played it tonight for first time in ages and iam bk to a level 3
when i was a level 38 -- mmmm

what the heck man need 2 start all over again why

There was a glitch that they patched a few days ago which reset your war journal and multiplayer rank if you signed into your profile whilst the game was loading or when you were on the main menu.

They've fixed this now apparently. Has your war journal reset too?

Not to worry, there's a double xp weekend going on now so you should be able to catch back up quite quickly

Yep, and the DLC that comes out this month is also tied to XP/ranks. So all in all about 200GS from getting to level 50 in matchmaking.
