Gears of War 3 Delayed

Quite surprised to be honest but,
Gears of War 3 has been delayed until Fall 2011.

Microsoft says the shift occurred so that Gears of War 3 could be positioned as the company's big holiday title for next year.

"Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011," a Microsoft spokesperson said. "The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011.

"However, we've elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season."

Gears of War 3 was originally supposed to launch on April 5, 2011. This delay will certainly give Epic Games additional time to add any polish that may be needed.

Not sure what big exclusives are heading for the 360 for the first half of the year apart from Kinect stuff, any ideas?
Still as i have always said delaying a game for the right reason is the best thing to do, no one likes buggy games at launch only to be fixed 6 months down the road with patches.
 
Hopefully they have learnt from the last one. Still wont be the biggest game of the holidays in 2011 if there is a call of duty modern warfare black ops waw 56. No doubt there will be some sort of Cod game and Gears loses.
 
Why do developers give release dates for games almost a full year before the game is out? Didn't they announce Gears 3 several months ago and gave it a Q1 2011 date?
 
Quite glad actually, there were far too many good games coming out in Q1 2011, now I don't have to prioritise as much :D

It's actually MS that have put it back to next autumn. From what i've read they've done as they've got sod all else to release so that'll be their big game. Still annoying as I was looking forward to it:mad:

*edit* Just read that IGN article and it looks awesome! Dedicated servers is excellent and greatly needed. And i'm looking forward to the beta.

MS is too busy making crappy shovelware party Kinect games to oversaturate the market so they postpone their biggest game to date.

The single player campaign is pretty decent, less of a 'dark' atmosphere thebn gears 1 but still top notch. Pretty cheap these days to pick up too.

Hopefully they will add some extra polish to the game considering the release delay but the multiplayer beta will be a nice filler for the extra period of waiting :)
