Gears of War coming to PC

Kinda happy that it's coming to the PC, but it's just gonna be a direct port over so probably very unoptimised and probably will run like crap on a high end PC as most console ports do :)

yes but how does the person who uploaded the video know its PC and not some new 360 content?

It is for the PC.
It's a leaked video from E3.
Search the web, the story is all over the place.

considering E3 hasn't even started im curious why you would believe a youtube vid and some random blogs for gaming news
 
The clip showed some of the PC port's visual improvements and additional content, including new boss fights and new maps. In addition, achievements for the PC version made an appearance, indicating that the game will take advantage of Games For Windows Live service.

We were initially hesitant to report this one since, being so close to E3, the internet is just ripe for a good hoax. So here it is, and we'll all wait for next week to see what official announcements are made before shrink-wrapping it and putting it on the shelves. Thanks to our forumers and all of the people that emailed in about this one, and thanks to Aggressor for the Kotaku link.

Yep, Unreal Engine 3 supported and was optimized for PC from it's inception and Epic have a decade or more experience making 3D engines for PC. We're not talking some lazy port here.

I'm glad Gears is coming to PC, assuming the rumour is true, and hopefully they've put the bits back in that make the story make sense :p Hope it happens sooner rather than later though. If they take years about it it'll start to look behind current PC games, which rather killed Halo/Halo2 on PC (along with sloppy coding). This christmas would be nice :)
 
I think it will get slated if it comes out on pc. GOW is a decent enough console game, slick and polished, excellent graphics, easy to get into pick up and play action and fun multiplayer co-op.

But compared to most pc shooters it is VERY simplistic, it's basically just run and gun and not a lot else, very linear and with no real change in the gameplay throughout the whole game.

The lack of depth in the gameplay will make it get found out pretty fast I reckon - pc gamers are just used to having more in their shooty games.

Nothing wrong with just run ang gun, same as UT2004, very simple :)

Yeh but UT2k4 was based around multiplayer, has billions of mods available and was finely tuned around multiplayer gaming. The single player game was pretty lacking though, if you bought it just for that you would be disappointed.

After all the hype around GOW and it's 360 'killer app' status, I think it will disappoint on pc, will probably be like Halo all over again.

If I had to think of a comparable pc game to GOW in terms of gameplay dynamic, it would be Doom3...once the initial 'wow' wore off on that, people started to realise how repetitive and just plain dull it actually was.

I enjoyed Doom3 and I think whatever happens the MP aspect of GOW will be very nice, I played GOW at a friend house and I thought it was ok, but I just could not play it on an Xbox360 and I was thinking, "this aint right, this jsut is not the way to play this sort of game, a keyboard and mouse is needed", and its about time they bring it to the PC :)
