Gears of War problem

Hey all, just got gears of war for xmas, and installed it fine... problem is, whenever i try to run it it just pops up the usual windows "This program has encountered an error and needs to close" just after the GoW spalsh screen.. doesnt get to any video/menu or anything, just a black screen then pops up that message.

Ive looked on the internet and cant find any solution. I have tried the patch, reinstalled, but its still not working Please help!

I forgot to mention im on XP, but i have tried running it in compatability mode, and all that happens is it changes the res but still throws me the same error.

The game doesnt even come on for me, i see a black screen then the error comes up and it goes no further. Really dissapointed.

Okay i fixed it! I got it working by downloading xliveredist from microsoft, and deleting two DLL files from windows/system32.

Files were: dxdgi.dll and nucleus.dll

And it works!
