Been playing it again today after getting a GTX260-216 and happy to report that the screen tearing which previously ruined it is totally gone on 180.48 under Vista DX10 mode. Also the AA now works as well so Nvidia have been busy quietly fixing things it would appear. FPS are also very high now
and the game feels very fluid in motion.
You can fix this on ATI as well by forcing vsync in D3D Overrider but that also disables the LIVE achievements as it detects it as a cheating tool
Whether this is fixed or not or as a direct result of GTX260-216 being able to pump more FPS out now I do not know as GOW has a dynamic FPS calculator which drops Vsync if the FPS drops below 30 via an ini file script (which you cannot change as the game will not launch otherwise as Epic have overprotected the game from ini tweaks yet could not patch the savegame bug could they
Saves do not get lost now but you need to be signed into LIVE so obviously need your retail serial number).
