Hi, a few days ago i replaced my artefacting 9800 with a AGP Gecube 1950TXT - but now im worried about that card!

I had thought that the problems with my old card were due to too high temperatures (tho i never took a reading before it dropped in performance), and now im worried that the new card reaches 78 degrees with working hard before i get blue screen.

If im not running a demanding game its steady at about 48. What worries me also is that although the heatsink/TEC cooler is touching the card, the ram sinks seem to just hover above?

This is all at the standard settings, 575 clockspeeds etc, and before any overdrive.


so any ideas or help would be wlecome.

Is there a better nonstock cooler fo the card?
 
Seems about right (temps) 38-45 idle, 65-75 under load although it shouldn't BSOD.

Zalman VF900 cools slightly better (not a huge reduction though) but it's much quieter.

Have not heard of your PSU brand before, how many amperage on the +12V rail does it offer? 1950XT is very power consuming.
 
Hi, sorry for the poor response - even in my own thread!

NTL decided to delete my Internet account, then they gave me the cold shoulder just so i had to signup for a Virgin account!
LOL! they even kept my Email address the same, but now i pay £10 pm instead of the £18 for the same 2meg line.

Anyway, the PSU is a good brand, its got its own active fan controlling to keep temps down.

Not sure how to find where i can see the Amperage?
 
You'll find the Amperage on the sticker thats on the PSU itself. :)

Thats temps fine, thats better than normal, my old x1800 XT 512mb used to idle around 58-59 and go as high as 74-75 underload, 48 is really nothing to worry about, in fact its pretty good that, and a lot cooler than most at idle.

On the back of the PSU? only visible sticker says 195-250Vac.... if this isnt it i might have to have a quick remove and clean.
 
No thast not it, the stickers normally on the side or top, tells you what all the rails are rated. :)

As you see from this review where its on the side.

i cant find the problem, nor the solution, apart from having a 12" fan where the Window to my case was, and they dont cone the the silent variety. :p
 
Well, i tell you what! its not quiet, buts theres some ruthless effiency to this £12 argos fan! (im hoping this isnt seen as a competitor) :p

I just ran ATI Overdrive im now at 675 Clock speed & 703Mhz and its sitting at 41 Degrees.

Well this is great, all i need to get now is Microsoft Flight Sim and Sturmovik for greater realism.
