Geek Pet Hates.

Excuse me, are you being dumb? Since when is 'PIN' redundant?

Some people in this thread have some serious problems/OCD, haha ;)

Personal identification number number? The second number is redundant.

But not being pedantic people say it so everybody knows what kind of pin they are referring to (you could mean a needle, as unlikely as it seems).

People who call the computer "the harddrive"
People who think more storage ("memory") will make the computer faster
People who "switch off" the computer by pressing the button on the monitor
People who generally think they know everything but is really seriously confused with what everything is called is making me want to punch someone...!

I also HATE it when someone ask for help with something and you start helping / explaining and then they question your methods!! Usually with something stupid like "oops, you forgot to put www at the beginning. It won't work now!" If you're such an expert then go do it yourself!

I also have the story about a coworkers mum who put the computer in the basement because it was noisy, and then rang and asked for help when the monitor wouldn't display a picture.

I just say to people asking for help now to get a Mac and leave me alone...

People also rope me in to do anything remotely electrical also.

People who have not restarted their PC, even after being asked to do so to fix the orphan process still running.
When you point out to them that it is obvious they have not restarted they just point out to you thats all you IT bods know how to do.

People who ask me to build a PC.....then somehow think it comes with a free lifetime warranty.
EG// I make a PC then 4 months later I get a phonecall expecting me to come and fix it as it has got a virus or BSOD. The deal was to make them a PC, no free lifetime cover comes with it!!!

That also applies to PC's 'you had a look at because some software went a bit wrong'.
You suddenly become responsible for that PC for the rest of it's life because you did something to it.

Not geeky but I can't stand people who type ect instead of etc.
