Geek Pet Hates.

your car mechanic says things like this about you. and your plumber... and so on

one thing i cant stand is tedious geeksmugness, especially from homebrew geeks who think having built a few PCs makes them Alan Turing.

My mate is into PC's and runs his own repair business but he will not use any other browser but EI. I think he's the only 'computer literate' person I know who does use it as their main.

He also clicks on search when entering text in the address bar rather than hitting Enter/Return.

IE++

when you've got 7000 clients, being able to change their settings centrally using AD is for the win.

Why not let windows adjust it to fit?

I use 24 and 19 and do it this way - when I can be bothered having a background? I usually just use a black screen.

that black space is the desktop that's off screen... he can't see it.

This, particularly when people rant about people not using keyboard shortcuts and hence how big a "noobs" they are ... whether someone uses them or not is personal preference it's not right or wrong ...

This , I use ctrlc and ctrl v because it is easier but yeah wouldn't have a problem with someone not doing, I don't like people pressing my screen though grrrrrrrrrr.

Yup, it's not rocket science, putting together most flat pack furniture requires more brain power.

What is with the large black band across the lh screen?

The monitor is smaller (19" compared to 24 for the other)

The black band doesn't actually appear on the 19" screen, he's just taken a screen shot of both screens. The larger screen is obviously taller in pixels which is why there is a black bar above the smaller screen in the screenshot.

my office keyboard (IBM Model M) doesnt even have a windows key.
