Yes, it is still called a modem. The USB dongles used to get wireless Internet via 3G are called modems too.

Here's a new one:
When you are explaining to someone how to do something and they double click too slowly so the application/file doesn't launch. You know yourself that waiting longer isn't going to help the situation but something prevents you from telling them right away and you wait with them until shortly telling them 'try again'.
By "people" you mean almost everyone? My one is people using the term modem for ADSL and Cable kit.
A modem is a device that converts digital to analogue, ADSL and Cable terminal adaptors don't do this, so they aren't modems. And any way a proper modem should make screeching sounds and have a row of lights on the front.
Pretty much everything that's been said already, but above all else...
Typing with one hand/finger.
People who confuse RAM with HDD capacity
People who choose a low resolution on an LCD monitor to make things bigger.
Programs stealing focus.
Surely you hate the caps lock key then and not the people that use it how it was intended to be used? Rather irrational though. And also, it's probably already been said but those folk who use Caps Lock and leave it on. Just tap and hold SHIFT when you want a capital letter for the love of god!!!!.
