Geek Pet Hates.

I've seen a few people who go to look for the button in vista and 7 where it minimises all your windows. Just use the win key and M !!!

People that use Win+M instead of Win+D which is so much more convenient for your (free) left hand!

;)

People using Google to get to websites. E.g. people navigating to google to then type facebook into google, and then selecting facebook from the search results. Oh dear god why?!

When my Dad bashes the backspace key to go back to the start page and then clicks favourites to go to a link. "I'm just clearing the screen". FFS.

God i hate it when people do that!

+1

Drives me up the wall!

I find it easier to just flick my mouse to the bottom right hand side than press Windows+D

When someone asks a question and you try and help them but they try and jump about 10 steps ahead of what they think you are going to tell them to do.

People who use wrong/confusing terminology. E.G:- I had a woman earlier asking me about permissions relating to files/folders but called everything a file. Another one is when people refer to a cased computer system as a CPU.

I have loads but don't want to start ranting :D

People who pronounce 'doubleyew doubleyew doubleyew dot' every time they give out a URL vocally even when it's a site (like the vast majority) that doesn't need it (or even worse, when the address is a subdomain).

Argh, this drives me crazy.

I have a bad habit myself of highlighting text as im reading it. I tend to do it more than once too.. I don't even see myself do it until someone mentions what im doing.

I put all my dad's links in the toolbar below the address bar, and showed them to him, and he still goes to Google and puts in "BBC sport" etc. :p

I do that on large blocks of text. Wouldn't call it a bad habit though.

Whilst in some cases it's a slight waste of time, there is actually a feeble excuse as to why someone might do that - if somebody's a poor typist, they might type in, for example 'facebook.cm', which might (I was going to say hypothetically, but it seems it does!) link to a phishing site. Google, however, gives precedent to .com domain names and the popularity of the site, so as soon as you have 'facebook' in there, the official site is likely to come first in the search listings.

huh I didn't know that Win+D does it also :p

Either way I press the win+M with my left hand anyways, its not exactly far :p
