People who ask for advice on what tech to buy (PC, TV etc) then proceed to ignore that advice and buy the cheapest item they can find. Then expect me to set it up and sort it out when it doesn't do what they want.

People thinking there is something wrong with their kids computer on boxing day. As it would not play games and asking for me to look at it. Only for me to find out that they have installed windows 7 on a cheap rig bought in tescos by one of their family members 5 years ago. They give it to their kids for crimbo and the only reason I didn't point out that they were cheap ****s was not to upset their kids. My other half had better not say I will do something again with out asking first.

Long story short.. Cheap arses and their computers....

My geek pet hate (and probably my own) is when people refer to games as Gears of War One, or Tomb Raider One and that shenanigans.

There was Gears of War, then Gears of War 2. At least say the first Gears of War if you really want to differentiate it doesn't make you sound like a spaz.

When people delete an entire line of text just to put in a missing letter at the start.

When people are using Vista and 7 and go through the start menu looking for thier program. Just type in what you want in the search bar!

EDIT-

Also, WinKey+D is far superior that WinKey+M. Case and pont: do Win+D then press it again. Cant do that with M!

Does touching my monitor screen class as a pet hate for a Geek?
I really really DETEST when people spoil the clean dust/streak free screen with their 'I must press on the screen to point exactly where my cheetos fingers are pointing'.

My girlfriend knows of my OCD on this issue, she actually threatens to lick my screen when I OcUK too much and ignoring her! :/

Have just finsihed editing a three page document that had to be edited for this exact reason
