They performed the same, I had a GeForce 3 Ti200 (yes it does have 64MB of memory on board)... I decided it wasn't up to performance in gaming and purchased a FX5200 with 256MB of video memory. It was poor and a big waste of an upgrade. I believe the FX5200 is comparable to the GeForce MX440.

Both will offer pretty poor performance in todays game - so I'd assume both would be on par in terms of speed. If a choice had to be made between the 2, I would've stuck with the GeForce 3. The FX range were very poor in my opinion - a mistake I made in the past.

yeah i know they are both pretty carp now

as i no longer do any gaming on my pc, i am looking a low grade card

have a choice of these 2 cards, just gonna go for whatever one is better

is there a difference in what version of dx the cards support ?

i assume the 5200 would be dx 8.1 compatable but what about the gf3 ?
with it being the older card it may only support dx7 ??

thanks again

I believe the GeForce 3 Ti200 does have DirectX 8.1 support, same with the FX card.

... newer technology might be the wiser choice. Perhaps opting for the FX might be the better decision. :) An FX5900 could be picked up pretty cheap.

My 128 ti200 outperforms my mates FX5600xt. General rule is FX<* although the 5700's and up were decent.

Yup... While my TI44200 doesn't do too well against my 5900xt on the other pc on cod2 dx7, I do have only a 1.1ghz athlon on this and a 3000+ on the other :p

I get ~90fps on full settings of cod1 at 1024 with a 1.1 athlon, 256mb ram and the GF4 TI4200 :P (lots of dynamic lights and it copes well.) (also, it's on a 4X AGP board so is at half speed :P)

I'd take the gf4 ti's over the fx's except the 5900ultras, as they're cheaper and when out really were top of the range, whereas the fx's were just plain bad.

Look for a ti4200 or 4600. On the bay they go for ~£20 for the ti4200 and they were amazing when out and still run some of todays games, while last years run on full :)

The Gf3Ti200 is way way better than a 5200, faster, good Oc better fps

Ti200 Doesn't support DX8.1

It supports DX 8.0

You can get the Ti200 in 128mb variants, pointless tho obviously

Is the Ti200 faster?

I don't know, but I get a feeling that some of you are just saying it is because you know the 5200 is rubbish (it is) but are you sure its that rubbish?...it could be?

If the Ti200 is outperforming a FX5600 there's something wrong somewhere

the FX5600 would wipe the floor with ANY Ti200, overclocked or not. It would wee all over it and then push its face into the dirt and laugh....really

My friend who had a 5200 scored worse than my card in 3dmark01, bearing in mind that he had a 2800+ and I had 2400+.

I think you overestimate the fx series. They were totally awful really, and the fx5600xt is a ripped down version which is more like a 5200 than anything else.

I haven't seen a 5600XT, but a standard 5600 should be a lot faster, one of my poorer mates (lol...soz) was playing painkiller a few months back at a reasonable frame rate there's no way a Ti200 would even look at it....

I could be way off the mark, just what I saw and was surprised myself.

don't mean to misinform :)
