Just going to upgrade my sisters old system. It's an Athlon XP 2400 based system that has currently got my old Gainward Geforce 4400Ti 128Mb AGP card in it.

I can get hold of a new Geforce 6200 128Mb AGP card for nothing, but was wondering if it will be much of an upgrade.

She don't really play any games etc. just mainly Internet, Word, Excel etc.

If shes not gaming at all I would personally put the 6200 in.

Chances are that the Ti4200 has a fan and the 6200 is passive. I always look it as its one less thing to replace as the small little 40mm fans on the geforce 4 range dont always last forever.

**of course the 6200 in question may have a fan, in which case my post makes no difference :D ;)

Not up to speed on the lower end 6xxx series but i would've thought the 6200 would actually be a downgrade from a GF4 Ti series card?

Thanksl.... All good info.

From what I see there is pros and cons to each card. Might just put the 6200 in as its a newer card and has no cooling fans and keep my trusty old 4400ti as a spare.

Since she is running XP and plays no games the 6200 should be quite nice.
