I am getting myself a 480 sli setup soon. I would like to max out BF3 and try metro 2033 maxed out.

Is the vram on the 480s enough to handle these games without going over?

BF3 beta: enough for casual play, insufficient to avoid lag spikes according to some reports.

Metro 2033: you wouldn't want to enable MSAA 4X and DOF with merely a pair of GTX480s anyway, unless 30 fps in some scenes (40+ fps average) is fine for you to play shooting games.

Forgot to say that I was saying 1920 x 1200 resolution.

I thought BF3 Beta played pretty well on my GTX480. 1920x1080 Ultra (0x MSAA because it made the graphics look worst for me). It did not drop below 50fps which I think is absolutely fine for online. vRAM usage was always around 1400mb so 1.5gb vRAM is fine for 1920x1080.

2 480s according to guru3d gets 53fps on average on metro 2033.

i was told on these forums i can max bf3 out with 2 480s with 60fps.

Ignore people who say 2x 480 wont do BF3. I have 2 480 myself and runs over 60 FPS maxed out with full AA on 1920 1200. It rarley goes below 50 fps. I have tried the big map with planes etc with a full server and fps is 60-50 fps. I did not see it drop below 50. Drivers will only get better as well for BF3. Already 38 % performance fix for BF3 beta which helped a lot!

So yeh, 2x 480 GTX is way more than enought to max out BF3. However, Metro you can max it out but like others said, if your willing to get 30-40 fps. I have had it maxed out and goes to 28 fps MIN. It isnt unplayable though. But I like my gaming smooth ^^

only 28 is normally what one would get. 2 should get a lot more fps on metro mate.

It will play both well. I played the bf3 beta on just about everything maxed and got 70-80 fps. The gtx480 is practically the same as the gtx570. Mine are also overclocked so they are faster than the 570's and near enough on par with the 580.

Easily. It ran at around 50fps on one for me. I didn't bother with MSAA (I used FXAA instead.) or HBAO (I used SSAO) as it made the game look worse IMO.

I have one overclocked 480 that can run metro 2033 maxed out with no issues at all (40fps avg)

Running 1080p res - Also had no issues with BF3 beta, smooth as anything maxed out.

EDIT: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/mukmu/ my overclock on it. Gonna take it up more but was focusing on my memory clock. 850mhz easily achievable. 1.113v atm
