Right I feel like a total n00b asking this question... but..

I bought a Geforce 6200 with the DVI connection on the back, basically so I can run Dual screen.

However when I have come to plug a DVI - VGA adapter in (not supplied with card) there seems to be 4 pins (around where the single horizontal pin) missing on the graphics cards female connector..

So.. is there more then one type of DVI connection?

There is, there are DVI-D (digital only), DVI-A (analogue only) and DVI-I (digital and analogue, graphics cards are normally this type).

Afaik you can only use an adapter with DVI-I, it won't work with DVI-D (since it hasn't got the pins to carry the analogue signal).

Something must be afoot then, because according to the graphics cards manual.. it says its a DVI-I connection, but just found some stuff on a site which shows all the connection types, and it appears that it has a DVI-D connector on the graphics card, so I gather im screwed connecting a second monitor to it unless i go out and buy a Digital TFT
