Am I able to use two displays but set at different resultions with my GeForce 6800 card ?

I would have my main screen at 1680 x 1050 via DVI and the second one at 1140 x 900 via D-SUB.

Can I have both screens outputting the same picture ? One screen is in the corner of my room as a dedicated TV.

good stuff

another question : if the cables needed for the 2nd TFT are going to be a 3 and 5 metre joined together, will this added length diminish the picture quality ?

cheers

I could not tell you by experience, but I guess it would not, as it sends data independently from each pin in parallel without any other data interfering, unlike RF cable where all the data is sent down one strip and with that, the greater the length, the more it would diminish the quality.

In my personal experience it really matters that you purchase high quality cables for this. Otherwise you will get a kind of shadow effect, where by the outside of every window is displayed about 2 - 3 times. It's hard to explain, but it looks crap.

So get a decent cable, and you should be OK, also your better off using one long cable, than joining two short ones together.
