geforce 6800 & setting up for using a plasma & tft

i have a Leadtek winfast geforce 6800 with latest nvidia drivers, i want to connect my 42" plasma and 19" tft to it so i can use both screens at the same time in an extended desktop mode. the card has 1 dvi out and 1 vga out. i will be connecting both screens using vga cables.

i tried to set it up last night, i connected my tft to the vga port and my plasma to the dvi port using a vga/dvi adapter. the plasma did not work but the tft did so i swapped the connections over and then my tft did not work and the plasma did. I did enable the second monitor in properties.

how do i go about setting up my plasma and tft and what is the best resolution for the plasma, its 42" and its native resolution is 852 x 480 but using this setting the icons are too big.

i thought that having a vga port and dvi port/vga adapter, on my gfx card, would allow me to connect the 2 screens with 2 vga cables.

where do i go from here as i really need to connect both screens to my pc for the way i want to use the htpc

should it just be a matter of connect the adapter to the dvi port and voila you have a vga port or is there anything to set or configure to do this?

just to add that all is now well, after a bit of messing about i tried again and got some success, i think the dvi adapter is the problem, im unsure if it is the correct adapter for the card but the screws on the adapter dont reach the holes on the back of the gfx card, i think i had 1 screw in place which may have dislodged it from the opposite end.

so happy bunny now with both screens working
