Hi,

I have a Geforce 6800XT card which I think has 256MB of memory. I have recently got into Flight Simulation FSX and have upgraded my RAM to 3GB in a modern computer with a AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual core processor 4400+ running on Windows XP, SP2.

3 questions:

1. How do I confirm that my card has 256MB? I believe they are available with 128MB, 256MB or 512MB. I am going by memory (excuse the pun) from when I bought the computer and Device Manager does not tell me how much there is.

2. Can the memory on the card be upgraded, or added to, and would this make an appreciable difference to performance?

3. With the above set up, is my graphics card the lowest "slowest" common demoninator?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Graphics card memory cannot be upgraded, but the amount of memory you have is very important when determining what screen size you can comfortably game at. What resolution do you run?

Your current setup is hardly top-end, but it shouldn't be dog slow. Definitely the graphics card could do with an upgrade...what budget do you have?

For your graphics card that should work or right click on desktop and search graphics properties.

These days graphics cards cant upgrade their ram.

Thats a great cheapish card and a big upgrade over what you currently have provided your mobo has PCIE.

If you have AGP look at one of the below ...
