GeForce 7600GT incompatibility

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any incompatibility between Epox motherboards and GeForce graphics cards?

(I've got an Epox EP-8RDA3+ and a Leadtek GeForce 7600GT 256MB AGP.)

Or does anyone know of any general instability problems with my graphics card, not just with my mobo?

I'm having problems, but I'm not convinced the card is faulty as the problems happen only on half the games/apps that I've tried and the rest are perfect.

I've tried both latest and older drivers, latest mobo bios and chipset drivers, a 550W PSU, disabling AA and AF, changing AGP aperture size, etc... The cpu (Athlon XP 3000, 333MHz) maxes at 45C, the mobo maxes at 35C, and the gfx card is virtually unchanged at 50C, so there's not a heat problem.

Thanks in advance

need more details on the problem itself/

On some games (Doom3, Eve-online) and apps (Google Earth):
1. I'm getting some white rectangles, as if some textures have either been corrupted or the card has run out of memory and can't completely redraw the screen.
2. Frequent machine reboots while the game is running.

In Windows Media Player (latest version), I can't play any movies (these can be played on other machines though, no problem).

This is even from a clean install of XP, with all unneccessary devices not installed, just the latest necessary drivers etc.

Thanks

reboots = gpu problem.

sounds like the core is heating up too much,

if you don;t listen to what im saing and run ati tool artifact scanner you will have a dead card on your hands come friday. you have been warned,,

From a cold boot the card starts at 50C and doesn't get much hotter, even after playing a game for a few minutes. The nVidia control panel can shut down the system when the card gets to (I think) 110C so there's no way it's overheating!

so your saying that at idle the card sits at 50c, thats not too good.

run ati tool, download it from the techpowerup site and run the artifact tester. you can then find out if its the core thats nackered and you need to do an rma.

but if its a leadtek card then i won;t be surprised since there have been a lot of reports of leadtek cards being faulty.

My leadteck ran at 40Cidle, but am sure i was seeing problems with heat under load..

Got a Zalman on there and sitting 35C. Only 5C above room....

In my mind, 50 C does seem a little hot... try aggressive cooling (house fan)and see if shut down less frequent

Does this problem only apply to the AGP model, as I'm ordering a PCI ex one over the weekend, and I might have to think again if so.

What brand of PSU do you have?

I've tried two PSUs - a Seasonic one (350W continuous, 450W max) and a generic ******** one (550W max)... both to no avail. Surely there's enough power? I even disconnected all unneccessary drives, devices, and pci cards at one time... same result :(

I'm going to give the ATITool a try this weekend, will let you know how I get on.

Results of running ATITool...
ATITool doesn't detect any artifacts. After running it for 10 minutes, max GPU temperature was 69C (temperature on cold boot was 50C after Windows completed loading).
(Max CPU temp 47C, max system temp 32C, so CPU/mobo isn't overheating.)

I'm going to return the gfx card to have it tested. The annoying thing is, if it isn't faulty, I'm going to have to pay a testing fee and the return postage, and I'll have a gfx card that I just can't use. If it is faulty, then hooray - I'll get a refund because I am sick to death of this!
