I am looking at getting a graphics card for my SFF however I will only have a 300w PSU, I realise that its not ideal but will it run with this card?

I have x2 HDD's, 1 DVDRW and 2gb RAM

I wont be gaming too much mainly watching DVD's but when I do play a game will it be ok?

The PSU is pretty high quality its a SilverStone SST-ST30NF

cheers:)

Not sure how that PSU will size up against Shuttles notoriously high quality PSUs. But I have had a 7800GTX and am currently running an 8800GTS in my SN25P with no problems power wise at all, the PSU is 350W.

My gut instinct would be that it would work, best off posting this on the SFF forum, or maybe another sites forums (can't remember the name off hand but its really good for SFF stuff).

Check the current requirements and which rail it needs it on. For example, my BFG 7600GT OC needs a 12v rail able of delivering 20Amps! I had an old 500w PSU and it simply couldn't hack it, the card was all over the place until I changed the PSU. You can find out the min. current required from the manufacturers, then check the label on your PSU to see if it can cut it.

What symptoms did you have with the under-spec psu?

I would, a good 300w PSU should be fine depending on the cpu you're running. To give you an idea my 430w seasonic ran a pentium D at 3.8ghz (high voltage), 3HDs, DVD RW, 2gb RAM and a 7800GT no problem.
