I bought a XGX GeForce 7900 GT earlier this year, It is getting quite old now, the problem im having is when I play games sometimes I get these black lines that stick out on peoples hands and some other faults, I have updated the driver to the latest version several times, but still the problem does not go away, Please someone who knows what to do help, Maybe it could be dust on the card? or I was thinking maybe trying a modyfied driver, If anyone knowns any or any clue how to fix this I would be glad to hear

Thanks

Hate to say it, but sounds like the cards FUBAR. If it's still under warranty, then I'D RMA it.

Clean it.
I clean mine out about every 6 weeks and you say you have had it nearly a year. Dust is probably making it run hotter under load. A good clear out should sort it.
What temps does the card reach under load ?

ehm i never check but idle its 52c is that good or bad?

Idle temps don't mean a great deal, use the nvidia driver control panel to chart the load temps. Black lines sounds like memory to me. If you can RMA it, do.

temps seem fine, but the 7900 series are renowned for dying unexpectedly

No they are not fine AT ALL.
A 7900 should tick over around 30c-40c and shouldn't go over say 55c under load although they can be taken much higher than that.
If your card is at 52c not stressed then i would think it will shoot up to well over 70c when loaded. Not good.
Take the card out and clean it gently with a New paint brush type cleaning tool and remove All the dust.
Then clean out your case vents and rebuild.

If you are still overheating aftyer this then consider and RMA.

I personally run a 7800GS+ which has a 7900 core so my info is Not from Google.

Also mine underload never goes higher than 49c and that is after a 4 hour thrash of BF2. (Of course it's clocked)

I agree with malc30.

My Galaxy 7900GS runs at 32C idle and reaches around 50C under load. Fair enough, the Galaxy has the Zalman cooler but even so...

That'll be that vf-900, that keeps the card pretty chilled!

Would be interested in those load temps...

Yes its with a vf-900 but I also have it volt modded to 1.4v & a heavy overclock which do raise the temps back up to what they were with the stock cooler ;)

The other problem I had which might cause overheating is the fact that I have a DFI lanparty Ultra-D motherboard which has 2 slots but what happened is the graphics card goes right over the chipset fan, It didnt seem to cause much problem back then, But I just use the pc solidly for gaming and hardly ever check the temperature temps and all the technical things, But if I move the card to another slot I understood that the GFX card will under perform. In hot days the chipset stays red at 50+ degrees, Im kinda afraid whats gonna happen to it, maybe it has soming to do with the graphics card problem

It All relates to your Ambient temps.
Your system can only run a degree or so above your ambients and Everything relates to this.
If you haven't had the cover off for ages your CPU cooler/fan will be clogged with dust and so will your GFX cooler/fan. Your vents will be filled with dust on your tower and this will also raise All temps.
You don't notice this until there are artifacts or other graphical anomalys.
I strip my system around every 6 weeks and completely dust it out and clean it up.
Depending on your own lifestyle i would suggest everyone does the same around every 3 months.
I am a smoker a Batchelor and a Dog owner and as Ruff as a badgers **** so i have to do my system more often.
I also games constantly and Clock just for the sheer hell of it.

I always find that one of the cans of compressed air (used carefully) and a soft brush work wonders. The brush I use is one that I used to use to clean my camera equipment and it has a handy little built in set of bellows, so that you can brush and blow at the same time (O'err!), so to speak.

Well i brushed the gfx card with a paint brush and it didnt seem to have any faults to it, the load temperature is like 65c, I think im going to try use driver cleaner and reinstall the drivers

also I changed the nvidia driver image settings to high performace instead of high quality and the bugs seemed to have dissapeared, I still think this might have something to do with the nvidia drivers, some people say that they can cause bugs

The game im trying out atm is Condemned, I have all settings up to the maximum what you can possibly get, but I feel that the image settings in nvidia driver is somehow messings things up, any ideas?
