Bit new to these set ups.
Do these 7950GX2 cards require an SLI motherboard, or will they happily run on a 975x board such as the Asus P5W DH, as a single unit.

If so, I presume you cannot add another 7950GX2 in SLI mode at a later date.

Nice 1, thanks for the reply.
Was cautious as not knowing if these single duo 7950's need an sli chipset or not :)

I still take it, they wont support an additional card when funds allow though, to make it quad?

GX2s work on any motherboard with a PCI-E 16x slot, even if its just hooked up as 1x.

Two GX2s however, requires an SLI motherboard unfortunately :( So you can get normal SLI through a GX2 on any mobo with PCI-E, but Quad SLI is reserved for SLI mobos only. Xeon workstation boards DO support SLI.

The other thing to bear in mind is that some mobos struggle to recognize the PCI switch in the 9750 GX2. Nvidia have published a compatibility list. If your mobo isn't listed, it might still work, but there are no guarantees.
