GeForce 9 series projected 3DMark Vantage performance

Futuremark will cash in big time with this. As will Microsoft with Vista.

Strange thing is that from all the reviews we see, it's the game benchmarks we're interested in. All this hype to see how 3d renders on your computer and how many points do you get when games can tell a different story just boggles me to why people have so much faith in this product .

I'm not a hater, just not interested on playing 3dmark. Especially when the 8800GT/GTS - 9800GTX rip away in 3dmark06 from the 8800GTX when it's quite even in the majority of games. How is that an indication of performance when you see figures like that?. Anywho, I look forward to seeing the benchmark and the new rendering scenes but luckily Youtube or Google Video will save me from having to install Vista ;).

According to futuremarks website you have to pay for even the basic version of Vantage...

Yep.

I think its the same as PCMark.

You get one trail go then you have to pay if you want to run it any more times.

3dmarks sli and crossfire scaling always seems to represent the best case scenario and never does it represent the difference in games, in fact 3dmark has always been practically useless when comparing different setups but people still use it and will continue comparing different cards and setups like it matters.

It hasnt, it has always been touted as a benchmark that shows how your system will cope with the latest games.

And its never been proven as having any valid bearing on gaming performance.

Even 3DMark01 was meaningless, by cranking up the FSB, and memory performance, a P4 with a rubbish graphics card could approach 20k 3DMark01's, and still have horrible gaming performance compared to an AMD64 with the same 3DMark. 01 was pretty much a memory bandwidth benchmark disguised as a graphics bench :P.

06 puts far to much emphises on the CPU.
