It sounds like a good idea. If it adjusts some of the cp stuff as well as the in-game options then that would be very impressive.

Nvidia's research shows that “four out of five gamers play games at their default settings,” Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang pointed out. “Most gamers simply don't have the ability or the patience to configure each one of the games specifically for their PC.”

first of all, most games have an "auto" setting already, which is probably why most gamers play on "default" settings as the developers have already tested lots of different cards and created a look up that sets the best compromise already

and secondly; load game > set Ultra / Maximum preset > play game > game runs rubbish > buy new computer
how difficult is that?

Why would anyone want to put their graphics settings in the cloud? In fact if I were nvidia I'd be trying to avoid it at all costs, they'll be drowning in onlive like services soon enough as it is. Cloud based graphics card settings won't save them.

Don't like the name, you would get the impression of some virtual reality rollercoaster where as they are just tweaking some settings; an ok idea but really if the gamer hasn't gone to the trouble to change the settings they probably don't really care. I know a few culprits, made me sick looking at their wonky resolutions and low settings but they were unphased even when I had showen them how much better it could look! Something ill never understand..

So, you overclock your new shiny Nvidia card, save the settings in the cloud, then it goes kaput and they've got you by the short and curlies?

Depends how much you overlclock it, the card is advertised as being able to, so i wouldn't think so.

If its a silly overclock, and it dies then i would be happy to see people not being able to RMA it, it's idiot users thinking they can do what they want risk free that ends up costing the rest of us money in the long run.

Very clever stuff. In fact this is one of the reasons I've heard friends give for console gaming. When you see an array of options with names like Screen-Space Ambient Occlusion, Anti-aliasing transparency, and such, to most people who aren't graphics experts/enthusiasts it can seem like too much **** with which to deal.

yeah agreed on the cp stuff, if it saved nvidia inspector game settings (most of which can be done through nvidia cp) then that would be truly awesome, i doubt it will do though

Truth.

The whole idea is pointless.

Why?

Assuming that Nvidia's figures are correct and i don't see why they wouldn't be, 80% of gamers don't change the games settings. So this service allows them to press one button and the server at Nvidia's end will analyze their machine, looking at billions of different configurations to see what gives the best game experience and it sets your game up for you.

Now obviously if you like to set up the settings your self then this service isn't for you, but for those who don't it sounds like a great idea.

it's pointless because this one button optimisation you talk of is already built in to the vast majority of games, it is only then that some people eek up the settings a small amount because they want better IQ and are willing to sacrifice a few frames/smoothness to get it, but mostly, games have low to high and ultra/extreme settings and the game auto detects which one you should be using anyway, and actually it's usually pretty accurate

when you first load up a game it usually gives you the option to hit "auto" for settings
