GeForce GT 650M - basic problems

Hi,

I'm a complete newbie so please bear with me ..........

I have an Asus i7 laptop with onboard Intel graphics chip and a GT 650 M
graphics adaptor.

I've just bought an AOC q2770Pqu monitor.

I cannot get the resolution above 1920 x 1080 using Intel or NVidia.

Would someone be kind enough to guide me through the process please.

Thanks both.

Drivers are up to date, but it sounds like my cable connection.
I'm using a standard 'old style' vga connector lead !!!

So, a new cable is required.

Might that explain why the Nvidea control panel cannot find a compatible monitor ?

I listed the links giving the laptops's spec, and the monitor's spec.

Could you advise which cable would be best, please ?

Hi,

My new cable has arrived, but still the same problem.
1920x1080 is the maximum resolution being offered.

The cable is an hdmi to dvi (dual link) as per this link:

I don't know what you mean !

I have just connected the hdmi end of the cable to the laptop's hdmi output, and the Dvi to the monitor's input.

Are you saying that I should be configuring a port ?

I'm not using it for gaming, so lag would not be an issue.
I need it for photo editing.

If you could give me a link to the exact cable needed, I'd be most grateful.
