GeForce GTX 590 Key Features Revealed

hehe you just have to love advertising.

only posted here because we've been talking about some of the fastest cards around, I hadn't noticed this ad before and it made me chuckle.

They got the image spot on, what with all the heat and flames and such.

Another Nvidia vs AMD punch-up....apart from all the marketing BS and fanboy **** its always nice to see shiny new high-end tech....reassures me that computer component manufacturers are still trying and pushing boundaries.

If one GPU manufacturer released the mother of all mothers of graphics cards (Bugatti Veyron style) that would never ever be beaten or improved upon...I'm sure we would all be very disappointed...continuous advancement of technology (by ANY manufacturer) is a good thing!!!

I was agreeing that the HD6990 is relatively good thermally. The performance per watt figures for an uber card like this are top notch.

Nvidia + New Fermi will always = Ouch for somebody. Hopefully Nvidia take some of the hit by targeting the HD6990 pricing weakness.

OK.....to all the red team ...... maybe if the green team agree that the 6990 isn't hot and loud then you can agree that neither is the 480......nah didn't think so .....

i bet the 590 be a lot more, £100-150+ more. and most people will say good price which will make them two faced.

if it is then £700-£750 for a graphics card is just silly....nvidia need to have a word with themselves....only way id pay this if it was twice as good as a 580gtx which it wont be

if i go with the 6990....it will be straight under water so noise and heat are irrelavent to me..i just want POWER ;)

The problem for CUDA is not AMD, it is Intel, Apple, ARM, Qualcomm and the rest of the gang that will push towards a open standard or in any case not nVidia's standard. CUDA has got no chance IMO.

In 5 years it will be dead, feel free to revive this thread to prove me wrong ;)

I wasn't aware that Intel was behind OpenCL too!!

As I mentioned before Nvidia does provide research funding:

http://research.nvidia.com/content/academic-partnership-program

It will be interesting how this pans out as Intel has way more money than Nvidia and it is hard times for research funding in many countries.

if its £100-150 more than a 6990 it'll be around £615/665

i think gibbe said somewhere in a thread it'll be £100 more.
