590 will be $699 in the US which is 6990 price territory, hopefully we will get similar 590 prices to the 6990 as the 590 performs on par with a 6990.

No offense but I'm detecting double-standard here. Like for example, for the standard GTX480 most reviews report its temp as 90C range same as 6990, despite some people reporting under 80C during gaming...and in that instance, I'm betting you would ignore the user feedbacks and choose to believe reviews instead, because it fit better with your belief

90c is under 100% load. Furmark I think they use.
During gaming it will be less because most if not all games don't use the GPU at 100%.

i never base gpu/cpus on review sites... i always prefer to base it on user info than review sites...
Raven said the 6990 runs hot and load and his based that on review sites. and i was pointing out that it doesn't run very hot...on auto fan i have seen mine at 75-78c maxed out. surely thats not what u call "running hot"

personlly i've not owned a NV card for years so i would never say they run hot or performance slow/fast, until i owned the card..

The 590 lost in 3D mark 11, 3D mark vantage at 1900 x 1200, and lost at Alien vs Predator, not sure how that makes it on top?
Why did they bench at 1280 x 1024?
Be good to see some 2,560x1,600 benchmarks, The gap might widen, im liking the HD 6990 so far, is the nda up yet? Why no proper reviews?

As I said game benchmarks, personally I wont use heaven and 3d mark to judge the card as if I were to buy it it would be for games. But of course we wait until we see all the proper reviews before declaring the king.
Obviously if you regularly use game settings that consume more than 1.5GB of ram then the 6990 will be for you, I think that will be a very narrow class of users though even for this card
it doesn't just apply to games requiring more memory also high resolutions or multiple screens, be honest if your buying a £500+ card and running a single screen lower than 1080P your doing it wrong..
