Because it voids the warranty of the card so it's a bit of a joke.

Yes looking good at that price, the 590 is a lot quieter but I doubt that is worth £115
It doesn't void the warranty! Wasn't it reported as fud, XFX, Sapphire etc went on record to say that they fully warranty either bios setting.
Whats even better is XFX card has double lifetime warranty meaning when you re sell the card the buyer also gets lifetime warranty.

Stop spreading bull****, this is a UK Forum and most people live in the UK where XFX doesn't offer any kind of lifetime warranty. I don't think they even have a decent support in Europe but I can be wrong on that.
Double Lifetime Warranty applies to the US and Canada only.

Regarding that switch on the 6990, how the hell would it invalidate warranty unless its blended in the unit (lulwat) or sealed somehow.
tbh i don't see how it can void the warranty has it's pre setup with 2 bios's..In which case I take it all back, indeed it should have been benched at 880
Edit: Are you sure about this, I can only find lots of references to it voiding the warranty apart from the odd company that will stand the warranty themselves and hence have covered it.
wrongi may be wrong but i think thats there's a sticker on the switch.

AMD’s product warranty does not cover damages caused by overclocking, even when overclocking is enabled via AMD software.
thats by software..That's what AMD is saying on their website:
Doesn't tell anything new at all though.
thats by software..
the switch is hardware..
good find mate....It's a footnote #8 regarding the switch.
